The Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau invites Scottsdale-area residents to catch the free Tourism Trolley on Thursday, May 15 for a tour of downtown Scottsdale where they’ll learn about the role tourism plays in the community. Riders also will discover the quintessential hot spots, both in downtown and citywide, that draw more than 7 million visitors to the city each year. Serving as the official tourism ambassadors and guides for the event will be Scottsdale City Council members.
The Tourism Trolley is sponsored by the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau and Ollie the Trolley in celebration of the 25th Annual National Tourism Week, May 10-18. National Tourism Week promotes a wider understanding of travel as a major industry that is vital to the economic stability, security and perception of Scottsdale and that contributes substantially to its cultural and social well being. “This event is a great opportunity for both our government officials and residents to see first-hand the attractions and amenities that make our destination unique,” said Rachel Sacco, president and CEO of the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. “I think people will walk away with a better understanding of the impact this industry has on each and every one of us.“ The tours will be conducted on a traditional, air-conditioned Ollie the Trolley vehicle. They will run every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 15 and depart from the Scottsdale Visitor Center at the Galleria Corporate Centre, 4343 N. Scottsdale Road, Ste. 170. The Scottsdale community is cleaner, families are safer and resident taxes are lower thanks to one of the city’s largest industries—tourism. Scottsdale’s 7.7 million tourists have a $3.5 billion economic impact annually on the city, which helps support our local economy, jobs and quality of life.
