Registration is under way for Scottsdale Design Day, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Oct. 5.

This free event is geared toward the owners of single-family homes south of Indian Bend Road. Sponsored by the city and the Green Building Advisory Committee, Design Day offers pre-registered participants the opportunity to meet with volunteer architects, and landscape and interior design specialists to discuss home renovations and redesigns during a free, 45-minute consultation.

Appointments are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are encouraged to bring their sketches, photos, measurements and design ideas to their pre-assigned consultations.

Several free lectures on various topics such as xeriscaping, green building practices and home energy audits will be held throughout the day. City staff will also be on hand to discuss city incentives, waivers, rebates, and programs and services.
