‘Dream Builders’ scholarships available
The Arizona Dream Builder Foundation, a newly organized nonprofit organization designed to create scholarship and educational opportunities for Arizona students, has announced that the deadline for application submissions for this year’s Dream Scholar awards is Oct. 3.

Each of three Dream Scholarships will be awarded at this year’s first Arizona Dream Dinner Event. The winners will receive a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for four years) beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year. Depending on funding, scholarship recipients may also receive a trip for two (student and chaperone) to Washington, D.C., for the unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in 2009 and a possible chaperoned trip to historically black colleges and universities in the spring of 2009.

            Applications for this program are available at the Arizona Dream Builder Web site www.azdreambuilder.org. Applicants must be enrolled full time as a senior at an Arizona accredited high school. He or she must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA. Students applying must demonstrate, through school and/or community leadership and activities, a commitment to the tenets of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Letters of support must accompany the application.
